Having decided that we would like to keep a few chickens as a source of fresh eggs, I decided it would be a nice little project to build their coop from scratch. The 'little project' managed to last four weekends. I decided on a covered run, 8' long and 4' high with a coop at one end raised off the ground. The coop has a suspended, removable floor; the largest wall is a hinged door and there is an egg inspection hatch in the roof. You can view plans for the coup here Building The Frame The frame was built from pressure-treated softwood timber.
